In the aftermath of any traumatic experience, it is important to recognize that escaping the source of trauma does not immediately end the suffering. It is the beginning of a new start, steps in a direction of healing and hope. In order to keep moving forward, it is key to tend to wounds that are not always seen through bruising and scars on a survivor's skin. Mental health care can treat the emotional scars and wounds that can run deep into thoughts, self-esteem, and emotions.
Each survivor will experience their own combination of emotions and needs as they navigate through the start of a new life.
